Head Coach Stan Joplin
"We had a lead in the first half and we got a little bit complacent. I thought we had them on the ropes in the second half when tried to make a comeback. Then we had some defensive lapses where they got some easy baskets. We didn't get very many hustle points and we were reacting a lot to what they were doing. They kind of manhandled us at times and it shows with the result of the game. I thought the crowd was trying to get into the game but we didn't give them a reason to stay into the game."
(on not getting stops when needed)
"We've usually been getting stops at home when we needed to. We gambled too much for steals instead of playing solid defense and they took advantage of it."
(on the pace of the game changing in the first half)
"We started shooting the ball too quickly and stopped being aggressive. We changed some shots inside we had and came away with nothing. We gave them some easy baskets because of breakdowns and you can't afford that."
(on the inside game)
"Our big guys didn't play that well and it hurt. We had half of our shots from the three-point line and that's quite a few."
(on Miami being the best team in the MAC)
"I think they're playing the best basketball right now. We didn't play as well as we can and they're playing with a lot of confidence. They made the plays they need to down the stretch and you have to give them credit for that."
Justin Ingram
(on the tempo of the game changing)
"We just quit running. Miami is a team that like to slow the ball up and doesn't really score a lot of points. They like to play a lot of halfcourt defense and take the ball down to the end of the shot clock. We wanted to push the ball up and down the court and we were doing that at the beginning of the game and that's why we were successful. Then the rest of the game everybody stopped running for some reason. We played the way the played instead of the way we wanted to."
"Kashif and I tried to push the ball and have Sammy and Keith run the floor. For a while that's what we were doing and we got back in the game and came within three points. Then we slowed it back up. We don't want to play the slower game that Miami plays and they're successful at it. We knew in order to beat them we needed to speed the game up."
(on not getting a defensive stop when needed)
"We didn't get the stops when we needed to and when we did we didn't get the rebound. We have to find some way to get these stops and get some wins. We just keep shooting ourselves in the foot losing these games. We just have to find a way to get it done."
