Toledo Outslugs Eastern Michigan in Series Finale, 18-13

TOLEDO, OH - Toledo (11-26, 3-9 MAC) blasted a season-high five home runs en route to an 18-13 Mid-American Conference victory over Eastern Michigan (22-15, 8-4 MAC) on Sunday afternoon at windy Scott Park.
The Rockets pounded out 18 hits off eight EMU pitchers, including 10 for extra-bases. Seven of the nine UT starters collected a base hit, with six notching multi-hit efforts.
Seniors Sean Dobson (4-for-6, 4 runs scored, 3 RBI) and Shawn Hurst (3-for-5, 5 RBI, 3 runs scored) led the offensive slugfest for the Midnight Blue and Gold belting two home runs apiece. Also homering for UT included sophomore Dan Stong (3-for-6, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored).
Other key contributors to the Rockets' attack included senior Jarrod Resendez (2-for-4, 4 RBI, run scored), junior Matt Ruth (3-for-3, 3 runs scored, RBI) and freshman Dustin Sommer (2-for-3, 3 runs scored).
Toledo utilized three pitchers in the contest with junior Nick Szczur (2-3) picking up the victory. Szczur went six innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits with eight strikeouts.
The Rockets return to action on Tuesday, April 27, when they host Wright State in non-conference action. The first pitch is slated for 3:00 p.m. at Scott Park.
