Toledo Blanked by Eastern Michigan in Series Opener, 9-0

TOLEDO, OH - Toledo (10-25, 2-8 MAC) was shut out for the second time this season as it dropped a 9-0 decision today to Eastern Michigan (21-14, 7-3, MAC) at Scott Park.
Junior J.R. Duffey (2-5) took the loss after allowing seven runs on 11 hits in five innings of work.
Eagles' starter Ryan Ford (6-3) gained the complete-game win, yielding seven hits with 10 strikeouts.
EMU scored one run in the second, third and fifth, four in the sixth and one each in the eighth and ninth. Leading the way for the Eagles offensively were 1B Matt Moffett (3-for-4, 4 RBI, HR) and LF Todd Kimling (3-for-5, RBI, run scored).
Senior CF Sean Dobson (2-for-3) and sophomore 3B Dan Stong (2-for-4) led the Rockets with two hits apiece.
The two teams will meet again tomorrow in a 1:00 p.m. contest. The series finale will take place on Sunday, April 25, also at 1:00 p.m.
