In celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Week, The University of Toledo and the Mid-American Conference present the You Go Girl MAC Women in Sports Poster and Essay Contests. The University of Toledo's Athletic Department would like to invite all youths to participate in this special promotion.
Kids in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade are eligible to participate in the poster contest. The posters are to celebrate girls and/or women in sports. The women Rockets will take on the Miami Redhawks at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2004, at Savage Hall. Special ticket prices for this game are $2 for all youth 18 and under and $6 for chaperones (minimum of 10 tickets).
Finalists will be selected and recognized at the You Go Girl Women Rockets basketball game with a Grand Prize winner being chosen and announced during half time of the game. The Grand Prize winner will receive tickets to the 2004 Kraft MAC Women's Basketball Tournament and one night lodging at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Cleveland, OH. Kids in grades 6th through 8th are eligible to participate in the essay contest. The theme of the essay is "Who is your favorite female athlete and why?" One Grand Prize winner from each MAC school will receive tickets to the 2004 Kraft MAC Women's Basketball Tournament and one night lodging at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Cleveland.
