TOLEDO, Ohio - Bruce Gradkowski threw three touchdown passes and Lance Moore scored two first-half touchdowns as Toledo beat Liberty 49-3 Saturday.
Gradkowski threw second-half touchdown passes of 49 yards and 24 yards to Steve Odom and a 20-yarder to Andrew Clarke in the first quarter.
Gradkowski was 14-of-16 (.875), the best completion percentage in Toledo history. The previous high mark was held by Ryan Huzjak and Gene Swick, who both completed 13-of-15 (.867) passes in a
game. Gradkowski threw for 250 yards and led the team in rushing with 56 yards.
Moore's 20-yard touchdown run gave Toledo (1-1) a 35-3 lead with 1:14 left in the first half. Moore also had a 54-yard punt return for a touchdown just over a minute into the game.
Trinity Dawson and Astin Martin also had rushing touchdowns for the Rockets.
Scott Kiovsky's 29-yard field goal in the first was Liberty's (0-2) only score.
Toledo's defense had two interceptions and recovered three Liberty fumbles. Toledo outgained Liberty 501-297 in total yards.
The Rockets are now 1-1 on the season and play at Marshall on Friday in a nationally televised game (ESPN, 7:00 p.m. EDT).
