Toledo Drops MAC Opener to Bowling Green, 5-2

Bowling Green, OH - The University of Toledo women's tennis team opened Mid-American Conference play on a sour note, dropping five of six singles matches this weekend to Bowling Green, who won 5-2.
With the loss, the Rockets drop to 4-4 and 0-1 in MAC play, while the Falcons improve to 5-4 overall and 1-0 in conference action.
The Rockets took the doubles point to open the match, winning at both the first and third flights. Junior Monica Ribero and sophomore Viviana Rivero were victorious over BGSU's Lisa Maloney and sophomore Susie Schoenberger at the top flight, by an 8-4 count.
At the third doubles spot, senior Eva Szuch and junior Jen Meister defeated BGSU's Heidi Romer and Andrea Meister, Jen Meister's younger sister, by the final of 8-5.
At the No. 1 singles spot, Ribero claimed victory over BGSU's Schoenberger (6-2, 6-0), but the Rocket women lost the next five matches in the 5-2 loss.
The Rockets will look to rebound as they travel to Muncie, IN to battle Ball State on Saturday, Mar. 1.
