1. Let's see, your father is a doctor, your uncle is a doctor. Just about everybody in your family is in the medical profession. You're a finance major. Are you afraid of the sight of blood or something?
Actually I enjoy it a lot (laughs). Seriously, it is just hard for me to go into the medical field while playing college football at the same time. I am actually considering going into a two-year nursing degree after I graduate where I would work myself up to either an O.R. nurse or something related to that in the medical profession.
2. Some of the fans miss your long hair from your freshman and sophomore years. Why did you cut it?
I changed it mostly for my mom. She wanted it cut so I did it for her, but also at the same time I wanted a change. I am now in the process of trying to get it to grow back. It has been a year now since I cut it, but as I am finding as I grow older I am losing the quickness of growth. It is not growing nearly as fast as before. I am trying to make my way back to my old hair for one last year.
3. You seemed a little surprised when you were named Defensive MVP of the Motor City Bowl. How come?
I was very surprised. When I received that award I went to each defensive player and said to them that this is not my award but yours. I don't look for individual awards, but obviously in this sport they name them. I think that was more of a team accomplishment, especially when Coach Amstutz held up that trophy. That was the ultimate achievement.
4. What does it mean for a Pittsburgh area guy like yourself to be playing at Pitt this year?
I was fortunate enough to play at Penn State two years ago. That was pretty nice, but this one though is a lot closer to home. I had a scholarship offer to play at Pitt, but I decided against going there. A couple of my best friends already purchased 30-some tickets apiece. I will probably have around 100 friends and family in attendance. I am definitely looking forward to get back.
