TOLEDO, OH - Assistant women's basketball coach Kim Clark announced her resignation today from the Rockets' coaching staff to pursue high school coaching opportunities.
"This was a difficult decision to make with leaving at this time, but I feel it is the best decision for my family," Clark said. "I will miss the players immensely, and I wish them the best of luck."
Said Head Coach Mark Ehlen, "I'm sorry to lose someone like Kim. We wish her the very best in her future career." Ehlen added that a search for her replacement will begin immediately.
A 1994 graduate of Penn State, Clark joined the Rockets' staff prior to the 1999-2000 campaign and helped UT compile a 56-23 (.709) win-loss mark during her tenure. During her stay in Toledo, she helped guide the Rockets to the 2000-01 Mid-American Conference regular-season and tournament championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance.
Prior to coming to UT, she spent three years as an assistant coach at the University of Maine (1996-99). She helped guide the Black Bears to three NCAA Tournament appearances while compiling a 67-24 (.736) win-loss mark. In addition, Maine captured a pair of America East regular-season and conference titles during her tenure.
Clark also served as an assistant coach on Bucknell University's staff for two seasons (1994-96) and helped lead the squad to its first-ever Patriot League regular-season title, while tying a school record for wins (18).
Clark played collegiately at Penn State (1989-93) and was an integral part in the Lady Lions' ascent to the top of the Atlantic 10 and Big Ten conference standings. In 1990, she was named an Atlantic 10 Conference Player of Influence after suffering an anterior cruciate ligmament injury in her first collegiate home game. She was honored in 1993 with the PSU Adversity Award for continuing her career after four knee surgeries.
