Toledo Head Coach Stan Joplin
"It's a good win for us against the preseason favorite to win the East Division. I thought really did a good job defensively, rebounded the basketball and shot the ball well."
On Keith Triplett's play:
"We need Keith to be aggressive all the time. Tonight was the first time he has played aggressive for two halves. I told him if he doesn't shoot the ball he's going to come and sit next to me. I think he got the message. He has to shoot the basketball and he gives us so much more balance with Nick and Sammy out there at the same time. Hopefully he is maturing as a basketball player and realizing what it takes to be successful."
On playing against Ohio's zone:
"We knew they were going to play zone and that's what we prepared for in practice. We wanted to penetrate and kick out to our shooters so we would have some success. I didn't realize we had 30 three-point attempts, but we got some good looks tonight."
Toledo guard Keith Triplett:
"My shots were falling tonight and my teammates were making their shots. That opened it up for me more. We came out and played as a team today."
Toledo guard Nick Moore:
"If Keith (Triplett) can do that for us every night, we'll be tough to beat. We were able to knock down some shots early and that forced them out of their zone."
Ohio Head Coach Tim O'Shea
"We are three games into the season and we need to improve. We are nowhere near the team we can be or want to be. I don't think we're playing well considering we have three seniors."
"In the first half we gave away too many looks. I tried to do something different and bring Thomas Stephens and James Bridgewater off the bench."
"On the road to be down in the first half, you have to play extremely well to come back and Toledo never gave us the oppertunity to come back."
(on Delvar Barrett) "The tempo of the game was fast and I needed to put quick people in the game. He will play better later in the season, but he doesn't have his game legs now."
Ohio forward Brandon Hunter
"We struggled in every aspect of the game. We got beat off the dribble. (Keith) Triplett had a great shooting night and (Sammy) Villegas is pretty good at penetrating. He had three assists and no turnovers. They penetrated our defense. We just got flat out beat tonight."
"We have to get better defending people in the post and on the perimeter, taking good shots and start flowing on offense."
Ohio forward Steve Esterkamp
"We were planning on being better than we are now, but we just have to get through this adversity, work hard every day and get better as a team. We need to start playing like we know we can."
