TOLEDO, Ohio - Chester Taylor rushed for a season-high 195 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead Toledo to a 21-20 non-conference victory before a Mid-American Conference record crowd of 36,852 at the Glass Bowl on Saturday.

Tavares Bolden chipped in with another strong performance, throwing for 282 yards on 21-of-29 passing. Bolden threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to a wide open Andrew Clarke, putting Toledo ahead 21-17 with 13:20 remaining.

Navy pulled to within a point when David Hills kicked a 30-yard field goal. But the Midshipmen could not move the ball on their final possession of the game and punted it away with 2:47 to play. Toledo held on to the ball the rest of the way and claimed the win.

Toledo (6-1) didn't take the lead until the first two minutes of the second half when Taylor scored on a nine-yard run that put the Rockets up 14-10. Bolden's 57-yard pass to Danta Greene set up the score. Greene finished with eight receptions for a career-high 117 yards.

It was a trick play that put Navy ahead in the third quarter and had the Midshipmen thinking about the upset.

Madden threw a lateral to wide receiver Chandler Sims, who then found Tony Lane for a 34-yard touchdown pass that gave Navy a 17-14 lead.

Navy (0-7) struck first when Madden faked a handoff and scampered 12 yards into the end zone. The touchdown capped a 78-yard, eight-play drive. Madden picked up 16 yards while scrambling away from pressure to set up David Hill's 42-yard field goal that put Navy ahead 10-0 early in the second quarter - the biggest lead the Midshipmen have had all season. Madden finished with 121 rushing yards on 24 carries.

Navy had 140 rushing yards in the first half against a Toledo offense that had allowed opponents 75 yards a game this season - ninth best in the nation.

Toledo returns to conference play with a game on Tuesday, Nov. 6 vs. Western Michigan at the Glass Bowl. The game will be broadcast on ESPN and is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. kickoff.
