Men's Basketball: Rockets Rank Second in MAC in Attendance

Toledo, OH - The Toledo men's basketball team is off to a great start this season, and the crowds at Savage Hall are following suit.
Through seven home games, UT's average paid attendance is 6,042, which ranks second behind Ohio among the 13 schools in the Mid-American Conference and is the highest since Stan Joplin became head coach in 1996-97. At the same point last year, the Rockets were averaging 4,949 fans per contest, and finished the season with an average of 5,799.
Toledo's best crowd this season has been 8,495 for the Bowling Green game on Jan. 13. The official capacity of Savage Hall is 9,000.
Attendance by UT students at men's basketball games is also up. The Rockets are averaging 1,322 students per game in 2000-01, more than triple the 439 students per game in attendance at the same point in the season in 1999-2000.
Toledo is 12-4 and is tied for first place in the MAC West Division at 4-1.The Rockets' next home game is on Wednesday, Jan. 24 vs. Central Michigan. The Chippewas are tied with UT for first place in the MAC West.
