Rocket Track Teams Sweep Bowling Green, Detroit in Home Meet (April 18)

Toledo, OH - The University of Toledo men's and women's track teams both defeated Bowling Green and Detroit in a triangular meet at the UT track on Tuesday, April 18. It was the first time in school history that the Rocket women's team has defeated Bowling Green in head-to-head competition.
The Toledo men totaled 147 points, to 132 for BGSU and 87 for Detroit. The Rocket women had a team score of 156, followed by BG with 134 and Detroit with 71.
Double winners for the UT women were Julia Ford (200 and 400 meters), Cyd Edmunds (shot put and javelin), Michelle DeLatour (triple jump and long jump) and Andrea McGrew (100m and 400m hurdles). Another highlight was Kia Minkkinen's time of 9:58.2 in the 3000 meters, the second-fastest time in school history.
First-place finishers for the UT men included Paul Sehzue (first in the 400 hurdles and second in the 400m dash), Bruce Kuhlman (javelin), Eldred Lewis (triple jump), Bi Hongyong (high jump), Ioannis Apostolides (hammer throw) and Kevin Grant (long jump).
