Toledo, OH - Toledo moved up six spots in this week's USA Today/ESPN poll to 31st in the nation with a total of 21 points. The Rockets were 37th last week with nine points in the coaches' poll. Toledo moved from 34th to 33rd in the latest AP College Football Poll (media).
Earlier this season, Toledo (8-1, 3-1 MAC West) climbed to as high as 30th in the AP poll and 29th in the USA Today/ESPN poll before a loss at Western Michigan on Sept. 23 knocked the Rockets off the charts. Toledo has won five straight games since that defeat.
The last time Toledo was officially ranked in either poll was on Nov. 3, 1997 when the Rockets were No. 18 in the AP poll and No. 20 in the USA Today/CNN poll. Their highest ranking ever is No. 12 in the final 1970 AP poll.
The Rockets also moved up three spots to No. 20 in the Sagarin Computer Rankings, one of seven computer ratings used by the Bowl Championship Series rankings. It is Toledo's highest ranking of the season in the Sagarin.
