Women's Swimming Defeats Illinois State (Jan. 21)

Toledo, OH - The University of Toledo women's swimming and diving team defeated Illinois State University on Friday, January 21 at the UT Student Recreation Center Pool. The women won by a score of 172-126 by taking 11 of the 16 events. The women are now 5-2 on the season.
For the second meet in a row, Sheona Lottering placed first in the 200, 500 and 1000 free. Lottering won the 200 in 1:56.60, the 500 in 5:04.77 and the 1000 in 10:21.57.
The women's 400 freestyle relay team finished first with a time of 3:35.29. This team included Yvette Victor, who won the 50 free with a time of 24.64, Lottering, Kaitlin Gardner, the winner of the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.64 and Amy Kleck.
Other winners for the women included Courtney Scholl in the 100 back (1:00.40), Beth Frisk in the 200 (2:09.83), Mia Blignaut in the 200 breaststroke (2:25.89) and the 200 IM (2:12.08) and Adrienne Williams in the 100 fly (1:01.10).
Both the men and women travel to Oxford, OH on January 22 to compete at the University of Miami in a tri-meet with Miami and Akron. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
