Woman Swimmers Finish Seventh at MAC Championships

The University of Toledo women's swimming and diving team wrapped up their season with a seventh-place finish at the Mid-American Conference Championships, held Feb. 25-27 at Miami University. The Rockets, who totaled 276 points, placed ahead of Buffalo (208) and Akron (117). Miami won the event with 822 points.
Marsha Clouthier (Guelph, ONT - John F. Ross) and Dawn Hickey (Brockport, NY - Brockport) turned in the best individual performances for Toledo. Clouthier paced the Rockets with a second-place finish in the 400 individual medley of 4:28.98. Hickey's time of 17:06.49 in the 1650 freestyle was good for third place.
Clouthier and Hickey were also members of Toledo's fifth place 800 freestyle relay team (7:39.84) along with teammates Mia Blignant (Pretoria, South Africa - Menlopark) and Kaitlin Gardner (Bloomsberg, PA - Central Columbia).
Diver Stephanie Ellis (Warsaw, IN - Warsaw) finished fifth out of 16 competitiors in the 1-meter diving event with 361.30 points.
The MAC Championships concluded the season for the Rocket women, who posted a 4-7 overall record while finishing 2-5 in the MAC.
