Tanner Ball was named the Executive Associate Athletic Director for Administration and Strategic Operations in July of 2026.

In his role at Toledo, Ball oversees strategic operations and administrative functions within the athletics department while working closely with senior leadership on long-range planning, resource management, revenue-sharing initiatives and organizational effectiveness.

"Tanner brings a unique combination of administrative expertise, legal training, strategic vision and experience navigating the rapidly changing landscape of college athletics. He has been at the forefront of some of the most significant developments in our industry, and his leadership will be invaluable as we continue positioning Toledo Athletics for sustained success."

Previously, Ball served as Assistant Athletics Director for Resource and Contract Management at Purdue, where he led the department's NIL administration, revenue-sharing implementation efforts, contract management processes and strategic initiatives. He played a central role in developing Purdue's approach to the House settlement era, including student-athlete compensation strategy, roster resource allocation, NIL operations and institutional policy development.

In addition, Ball served as the sport administrator for Purdue's men's and women's golf programs and helped oversee the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex, including the planning and development of the Pete Dye Clubhouse project.

Before joining Purdue, Ball served in multiple athletics administration roles at East Tennessee State University, including Assistant Athletics Director for Administration. His experience spans athletic development, strategic initiatives, external operations and special projects.

Ball earned a bachelor's degree in sport management from the University of Tennessee, an MBA from East Tennessee State University and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law.
