Jonathan Halsey joined the University of Toledo Sports Medicine staff in July 2023 as a Senior Athletic Trainer. He currently serves as the primary athletic trainer for the Women’s Basketball team and provides support to Cross Country, Track & Field and Rowing. In addition to sport coverage, he leads departmental initiatives in dry needling treatment, blood testing coordination, and inventory management. Jonathan also mentors a team of athletic trainers and athletic training students.Â
Prior to his role at Toledo, Halsey earned his Master of Athletic Training degree from Eastern Michigan University in 2023, where he worked with multiple Division I programs as a graduate student. His clinical experiences included football, women's volleyball, women’s lacrosse, women’s gymnastics, and track and field at Eastern Michigan.
Before entering athletic training, Halsey served over 14 years in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. His military career included five deployments as a Ranger Infantryman with the 75th Ranger Regiment and multiple roles as a lead instructor and operations NCO with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit and Special Operations Medical Training Center. He earned numerous honors, including the Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, and several commendation medals.
He and his wife Lindsay live in Dundee, Mich. with their two children, Benjamin and Olivia.
