Marcus Vicars enters his first year as the Toledo track & field throws coach in 2017-18.
Vicars comes to Toledo after spending three years coaching the throws team at Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska.
During his tenure at Chadron State, his athletes broke school records in the women's hammer throw, shot put, discus and weight throw, as well as the men's discus and hammer throw. CSC throwers racked up a combined 350 points at Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference meets. Vicars helped the CSC women's team win its first ever RMAC Track & Field Championship in 2016.
Vicars' athletes qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships in 11 individual events and earned six All-American finishes and a pair of National Championships. The CSC throwers helped lead the Eagles to a third-place finish at the 2017 NCAA DII Indoor National Championships.
Previsouly, Vicars was an athlete at the University of Findlay where he was a two-time NCAA DII All-American in the shot put. He received his undergraduate degree in strength and conditioning from Findlay and is currently pursuing his Masters in recreation and leisure studies at UT.
