Former University of Toledo running back Terry Swanson is in his third season as the director of player development.
Swanson played for Toledo from 2014-17, rushing for 3,601 yards, which ranks fourth all-time at Toledo. A two-time All-MAC selection, Swanson helped lead the Rockets to a MAC Championship as a senior in 2017.
Swanson, from Aliquippa, Pa., began his career as a Rocket in 2014, teaming up with backfield mate Kareem Hunt to lead the Rockets to a 9-4 record and a victory in the GoDaddy Bowl in Mobile, Ala. As a freshman that year, Swanson ran for 732 yards and six touchdowns. As a sophomore in 2015, Swanson racked up 923 yards and was named second-team All-MAC. He followed that up with 583 yards as a junior. As a senior, Swanson ran for 1,363 yards and 14 touchdowns, including 182 yards and two scores in a 45-28 victory over Akron in the 2017 MAC Championship Game.
Swanson had a brief stint in the NFL with the Houston Texans in 2018, playing in four preseason games. He later signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL in 2020.
Swanson graduated from Toledo with a degree in communication in 2018. He and his girlfriend Anasia Jackson make their home in Toledo.
