Post-Game Quotes
Head Coach Jason Candle
(opening statement)
“I’m obviously very proud of our team's effort today and thankful to our seniors for everything they've given us here in the Glass Bowl. Their record here in the last four years is 21-3. It was a really good win for them today and I think winning your last game in their home stadium is a big deal. Our underclassmen really paid attention to that all week and provided a great effort for vets and our seniors. Put that all together and turned out to be a good team performance. We've got some things to clean up, but I thought it was a good game in all three phases.”
(on his team’s defensive performance)
“These guys keep raising the standard and keep raising the bar for what it should look like. We were very disruptive on the defensive front. When Ball State’s quarterback pulls the ball down, he is a legit runner. When that guy tucks the ball, he can score a seventy-yard touchdown. There's not too many quarterbacks that across the country that can do that. They knew they had their hands full all week long chasing that guy around. They were very disruptive and very, very good all day.”
(on Chip Trayanum)
“He's a hard tackle when he gets to the second level of defense. Ball State did a couple of good things schematically. There were the free hitters down there often and he ran through them most of the time. Give him a lot of credit. I'm glad he's here and he’s been a great addition to our program.”
Defensive Tackle Martez Poynter
“I feel like we all play for each other on the d-line. We just want to cause havoc for everybody as a defense. It’s special what the d-line did, but everybody played a part – secondary and linebackers too. When everybody does their job, it’s pretty tough to play against our defense.”
Running Back Chip Trayanum
“I made sure to be patient and follow my blockers. Coach Candle tries to get us in the best positions, and work on every play and every situation. We were able to see the right look and execute plays offensively. When I get a seam, I try to hit it as hard as I can and go all the way.”
