Toledo vs. LIU – Sept. 1, 2022
  • Toledo won its 12th consecutive home opener. The last time the Rockets lost a home opener was a 41-2 loss to Arizona in 2010.
  • Toledo is now 1-2 vs. LIU and 27-2 against FCS opponents.  LIU defeated Toledo in 1939 and 1940.
  • Sophomore quarterback Dequan Finn completed 21-of-28 passes for 216 yards and two touchdowns. Finn also rushed for a team-best 64 yards and a score on 12 carries.
  • Finn’s 69-yard TD pass to tight end Jamal Turner was the second-longest scoring throw of his career and the longest reception of Turner’s career.
  • Sophomore Demeer Blankumsee led the Rockets with seven receptions.
  • Toledo recorded its first shutout since a 45-0 blanking of Murray State on Sept. 14, 2019.
  • Senior Desjuan Johnson tied his career high with 3.0 tackles for loss, while senior Jamal Hines added 1.5 TFLs.
  • Junior linebacker Dallas Gant (OSU transfer) led Toledo with 10 tackles in his debut as a Rocket. He added a forced fumble and broke up one pass.
  • Junior Thomas Cluckey connected on field goals of 43, 27 and 30 yards.
  • Sophomore Peny Boone (transfer from Maryland) rushed for 56 yards in his Rocket debut.
