Toledo Post Game Notes
Toledo vs. Ball State, Nov. 8, 2022
  • With the victory, Toledo moves to 5-1 in MAC play and clinched at least a share of the West Division crown. If Northern Illinois defeats Western Michigan Wednesday night, the Rockets will own all tie-breakers and thus would represent the West in the MAC Championship Game in Detroit on Dec. 3. Toledo could also earn a trip to Detroit with victories in either of its final two games.
  • Toledo won its seventh game of the year, clinching a winning season for the 12th time in the last 13 years. The only exception came in 2019 when the Rockets went 6-6.
  • Toledo held Ball State to 281 yards of total offense, including just 94 yards passing.
  • Sophomore Dequan Finn started at quarterback after missing Toledo’s last game with an injury. He completed 21-of-38 passes for 301 yards and three touchdowns.
  • Jerjuan Newton caught a career-high seven passes and his eighth touchdown pass of the season in the first quarter, one shy of MAC leader Sam Wiglusz of Ohio's nine receiving scores.
  • Sophomore Micah Kelly rushed for a career-high 85 yards on 17 carries.
  • Dyontae Johnson led Toledo with 11 tackles. Zachary Ford added a career-best 10 tackles.
  • Maxen Hook had one interception and two pass breakups.
