Toledo vs. Norfolk State – Sept. 4, 2021
  • Toledo’s quarterbacks combined for 13-of-17 passing for 236 yards. Sophomore Carter Bradley started and connected on 8-of-11 passes for 183 yards. Redshirt freshman Dequan Finn hit on 4-of-5 passes for 38 yards. Finn also scored his first collegiate touchdown on a 24-yard run in the second quarter. He led the Rockets with 82 yards rushing on nine carries. Redshirt freshman Tucker Gleason completed his only pass attempt.
  • Bradley’s 84-yard TD pass to Devin Maddox in the third quarter was the longest career scoring play for both players.
  • Toledo’s special teams blocked two punts that were returned for touchdowns, and also recovered a fumble on a kickoff. It was the first time in school history that Toledo scored on two blocked punts. Freshman Maxen Hook went 25 yards on a blocked punt by Freshman DeMeer Blankemsee in the fist quarter. Hook then blocked a punt in the second quarter that was returned 14 yards into the end zone by Jacquez Stuart. It was Toledo’s first TD off a blocked punt since Cody Thompson scored on his own blocked punt at the goal line vs. VMI on Sept. 1, 2018.
  • Bryant Koback rushed for 52 yards and two TDs on nine attempts. He now has 2,678 career rushing yards. He needs 42 yards to pass Casey McBeth (2,719 yards from 1991-94) to move into eighth place on Toledo’s all-time list. Koback also rushed for two touchdowns, giving him 32 for his career, tied for fifth on UT’s all-time list with Roland Moss (1966-68). Koback also led Toledo with three receptions.
  • Senior cornerback Samuel Womack picked off a pass in the third quarter, his first interception Oct. 12, 2019 and fourth of his career.
  • Senior Jonathan Jones and junior Jamal Hines led the defense with seven tackles each.
  • Toledo is now 64-30-2 all-time in home openers and 26-2 against FCS opponents.
  • Toledo held its Senior Day before the game, honoring 14 seniors who are in their last season with the Rockets.
