From the Athletic Director: Stay Strong Rocket Nation!

By Mike O'Brien, Vice President and Director of Athletics
March 17, 2020

Dear Rocket Nation,

First and foremost, I wish good health to all of you and your families in these difficult times. Please stay safe and follow the best-practice CDC guidelines as closely as you can. You are doing this for others as well as yourself.

What we are all going through right now is unprecedented in our lifetimes. To say that this is “bigger than sports” goes without saying. As sad as it was to see the season (and in some cases, career) end for so many Rocket student-athletes, their health and well-being far out-weighs that loss. We know it is a loss for you, too, as fans of our Rocket sports. But it is a small sacrifice for all of us who bleed Midnight Blue and Gold in the greater fight against this pandemic.

So until our teams are back and playing again, take care of yourself and take care of each other. Maybe reach out and call that friend or family member you haven’t connected with for a while.

We will all get through this together, both as a nation and as Rockets.

Also, please accept wishes for a Happy St. Patrick’s Day from this Irishman!

Stay strong and as always, Go Rockets!
