Post-Game Notes-Ball State Game

  • Toledo improves to 24-19-2 all-time against Ball State. The Rockets have now won five straight meetings, the longest winning streak by either team in the matchup.
  • Jameson Vest broke two career records on Wednesday night. He connected on the 69th field goal of his career, breaking the previous record held by Rusty Hanna (1989-92) and he successfully converted his 212th career extra point, topping Jason Robbins (2002-05) for most in school history.
  • The Toledo defense forced five turnovers on the night, the most in a game since Nov. 17, 2015 against Bowling Green.
  • The Rockets had four sacks, giving them 14 over the last three games.
  • Cody Thompson caught six passes for 75 yards and a touchdown, bringing his career receiving yardage total to 3,090. He passed Alonzo Russell (2012-15) and moved into third place all-time in career receiving yards.
  • Bryant Koback tallied two rushing touchdowns, his third multi-TD game this season.
  • Art Thompkins led the Rockets with 84 rushing yards, the fourth different player to lead UT in rushing in a game this season (Mitchell Guadagni, Bryant Koback, Shakif Seymour).
  • Freshman Terrance Taylor tallied three tackles for loss, tied for the most in a game by a Rocket this season (Jamal Hines at Eastern Michigan).
  • Diontae Johnson caught five passes for 100 yards, the eighth 100-yard receiving game of his career.
  • Bryce Mitchell caught a 41-yard touchdown pass at the end of the fourth quarter, the longest reception of his career and his first career TD catch.
  • UT totaled 531 total yards of offense, the second straight game with at least 500 yards and third this season.
  • The Rockets scored a touchdown on their first three drives, the first time they’ve done that since Sept. 20, 2014 against Ball State.
