Post-Game Notes

  • The Rockets won their season opener for a third straight season. UT’s last loss in an opener was at No. 10 Florida by a 24-6 margin in 2013.
  • Toledo leads the all-time series vs. Arkansas State by a 5-0 margin. The Rockets  have defeated the Red Wolves in each of the last three years.
  • The Rockets have won nine straight road games dating back to the 2014 season.
  • Junior quarterback Logan Woodside threw for a career-high 371 yards by completing 23-of-31 passes for three touchdowns. Woodside’s previous best was 337 yards against Central Michigan on Sept. 27, 2014.
  • Senior running back Kareem Hunt moved past Trinity Dawson (3,474 yds. – 2002-05) into 3rd place on UT’s career rushing list. He now has 3,548 yards in his Rocket career and trails only Chester Taylor (4,849 yds. – 1998-2001) and Wasean Tait (4,338 yds. – 1993-98).
  • Hunt also registered his 35th career rushing touchdown to move into a tie for third place with Joe Schwartz (1970-72). Chester Taylor ranks first with 56 with Wasean Tait placing second with 38 scores.
  • Senior running back Damion Jones-Moore paced the Rockets with 81 yards, including a  game-high 42-yard run in the fourth quarter.
  • Junior wide receiver Cody Thompson registered a career-best 174 receiving yards by hauling in five catches with one touchdown. Thompson ranked third nationally last year with 22.3 yards per catch and is averaging 34.8 ypc this season.
  • Senior wide receiver Corey Jones hauled in a team-high six receptions for 54 yards.
  • Senior tight end Michael Roberts matched his career best with four catches for 41 yards, including a pair of touchdowns for his first multi-score contest as a  Rocket. Roberts now has eight touchdowns in a Toledo uniform
  • Sophomore defensive end Ola Adeniyi shared the team lead with a career-high eight tackles. He also notched a career-best three tackles for loss for 15 yards and his first career sack in his initial collegiate start.
  • Senior defensive end John Stepec tied for the team lead with a career-best eight tackles with one sack.
  • Senior defensive tackle Treyvon Hester and sophomore safety Josh Teachey also garnered sacks for the Rockets.
  • Sophomore defensive back Kadar Hollman tallied a career-high six tackles in his first collegiate start.
  • Senior punter Nick Ellis was impressive in limited action. He averaged 47.0 yards on three punts and placed one punt at ASU’s six-yard line.
