Post-Game Notes vs. Evansville

  • Toledo is 2-0 in overtime games this season and played its first double-overtime game since a 78-70 (2OT) win over Eastern Michigan on March 5, 2005
  • Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk is 5-5 in overtime games during his seven-year tenure as the Rockets’ head coach.
  • The Rockets are now 3-2 in five all-time meetings vs. Evansville.
  • UT converted 7-of-8  free-throw attempts in the two overtimes.
  • The Rockets limited the Purple Aces to a 40.0 FG%, the lowest by a UT opponent this season. Evansville shot 37.9 percent in the second half and just 33.3 percent (5-of-15) in the overtimes.
  • Toledo out-rebounded Evansville by a 45-40 margin, marking the fourth time in five games this season UT has won the battle of the boards.
  • Redshirt freshman center Luke Knapke led Toledo with 19 points and also had seven boards, three assists and two blocked shots in 40 minutes in his first collegiate start.
  • Knapke is averaging 7.4 ppg and 3.8 rpg in 20.2 mpg this season and leads the Rockets with a 62.5 FG% (15-of-24) with a 75.0 3PTFG% (3-of-4).
  • Senior forward Steve Taylor Jr. posted his fourth straight double-double with 15 points, 15 rebounds and three assists in 44 minutes. Taylor, who is shooting 60.0 percent from the field, leads the Rockets with 13.0 rpg and 4.0 apg and is tied for first with 16.4 ppg.
  • Sophomore guard Jaelan Sanford scored in double digits for a second time this season, finishing with 15 points in a career-high 46 minutes.
  • Junior guard Daniel Dzierzawski posted double-digit scoring totals for a third time this season with 10 pts and season-high four assists in 25 minutes.
  • Senior guard Jordan Lauf registered nine points and a season-high eight rebounds in a career-high 35 minutes. He was 6-of-6 from the free-throw line, including a pair with 6.2 seconds left in regulation. Lauf is a perfect 15-of-15 from the charity stripe this season.
