Senior RB Kareem Hunt scored a three-yard TD run with 18 seconds left in the fourth quarter to propel Toledo to its seventh-straight victory over arch-rival Bowling Green. With the win, the Rockets earn the right to keep the “Battle of I-75” Trophy. UT won the trophy in 2011, the first year it was established, and has never had to relinquish it since.

Today marked was the 87th-annual Homecoming Game at UT. Toledo is 60-27 all-time in Homecoming contests, including a 5-6 ledger against arch-rival Bowling Green.

With today’s triumph, Toledo improved to 18-1 against MAC East Division opponents since 2010. The Rockets’ last loss to a cross-division foe came against Akron, 31-29, on Nov. 29, 2013.

Today’s attendance was announced at 30,147, the 11th-largest crowd in Glass Bowl history. It was also the largest home crowd since 31,981 fans saw the Rockets defeat the Falcons, 49-41, on Nov. 23, 2004. The official capacity of the Glass Bowl is listed at 26,038. The top home crowd in program history is 36,852 vs. Navy on Oct. 27, 2001.

With today’s offensive output, Toledo has scored at least 40 points in four games this fall. The Rockets have also posted at least 500 yards of total offense in all but one contest.

Junior QB Logan Woodside completed 23-of-30 passes for 322 yards and four touchdowns. Woodside completed passes to seven different receivers. He has now thrown at least four TD passes in each of the last five games. Woodside has totaled 24 TD passes on the season, the fifth-highest total in school history in a single season.

Senior TE Michael Roberts set career highs in catches (6), yards receiving (94) and touchdowns (3). Roberts has now scored a TD in five of six games this season. The Cleveland, OH native was credited with a career-long 41-yard TD reception in the first quarter, a 22-yard TD catch in the second and a five-yard scoring reception in the third. For the season, Roberts has reeled in a team-high nine TD catches, tied for the most in UT annals by a tight end as well as tied for third overall in program history. Tight end Don Seymour also had nine TD catches during the 1973 campaign.

Junior RB Terry Swanson carried the ball 12 times for a season-high 112 yards, including a season-long 63-yard TD scamper in the fourth period to top the century mark for the seventh time in his collegiate career. Swanson’s previous best overall effort this season was 71 yards at Eastern Michigan last Saturday, Oct. 8. His previous long run from scrimmage was 14 yards also at EMU.

Senior Kareem Hunt ran the ball 25 times for 99 yards, including a three-yard TD plunge with 18 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Hunt has now scored a rushing TD in each of the last four games and has 39 career scoring runs to move into sole possession of second place in school history.

Senior WR Corey Jones hauled in five passes for 90 yards, including a 64-yard TD reception in the third period. Jones has now caught a TD pass in each of the last three contests.

Senior P Nick Ellis was credited with a career-long 69 yard punt in the first quarter. Ellis’ previous long kick was 64 yards against Temple on Dec. 22, 2015. For the game, he averaged an impressive 46.5 yards per kick on six punts and landed two inside the BGSU 20-yard line.

Junior CB Trevon Mathis was credited with his first career interception in the second period. Mathis finished with three tackles and one pass breakup.

Sophomore DE Ola Adeniyi registered a sack in the second period and totaled six stops. Adeniyi was also credited with a team-tying best 2.0 tackles for loss.

Senior SS Connery Swift posted a career-high and a team-tying best seven tackles. Swift’s previous best effort was six stops against Bowling Green on on Nov. 19, 2014 and most recently at BYU on Sept. 30, 2016.

Sophomore LB Tyler Taafe totaled a season-tying best and a team-tying high seven stops. Taafe also had seven tackles at BYU on Sept. 30, 2016.   

Redshirt freshman C Bryce Harris returned to the starting lineup after battling injuries the last two games.

Toledo reclaimed the lead, 14-7, in the second quarter on a 22-yard TD pass from junior QB Logan Woodside to senior TE Michael Roberts. Through the first six games, the Rockets have outscored the opposition 62-3 in the second period.
