Charles Harmon, Baseball/Basketball (1943,47-37)
Charles (Chuck) Harmon won varsity letters in basketball in 1947, 1948, and 1949 and won varsity letters in baseball in 1943, 1947 and 1948. In basketball he was the second leading scorer for three straight years. He scored 728 career points and averaged nearly 13 points per game. Although rebounding statistics were not kept during his time, newspaper reports repeatedly referred to him as one of the best rebounders on the team. He was named All- Midwest by Collegiate Magazine and won second team All-Ohio honors in basketball. One newspaper account indicates he hit .429 during the 1947 season. After leaving Toledo, he played professionally in the major leagues with the Cincinnati Reds, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Philadelphia Phillies through the 1958 season.
