John Walters is in his first year as the Rockets' associate athletic trainer after spending the last two seasons as an assistant athletic trainer at Auburn University, where he worked primarily with the 2010 national champion Tigers' football team. Prior to his stint at Auburn, he served as the head athletic trainer at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL in 2007.
A native of Dearborn Heights, MI, Walters earned his bachelor's degree in sports medicine from Central Michigan in 2005 and his master's degree from Georgia State in 2007. He began his career as an intern at Auburn in 2005 before working as a graduate assistant for the Georgia Tech Athletic Association.
