Athletic Training Education Program

The University of Toledo Athletic Training Program strives to educate and build model athletic trainers through a balance of support and challenges in classroom and clinical experiences.  The mission of the CAATE-accredited professional Athletic Training Program is to provide students with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to become a competent entry-level athletic trainer while also instilling the mindset of a scholarly clinician.  The program seeks to develop professionals who make an impactful contribution to the field through service and scholarship while conducting themselves in a manner consistent with utmost professionalism and ability.

The program consists of two components: a classroom portion based on traditional and engaging learning strategies as well as a clinical component in which students are immersed in clinical practice and skill application.  These two components serve as complimentary pieces and allow students to build a foundation of knowledge while also putting that knowledge to use on a daily basis.

The University of Toledo's Athletic Training program has several points of distinction, including but not limited to the use of the state of the art Inter-professional Immersive Simulation Center as well as the opportunity for students to gain hands-on learning in a variety of clinical settings from secondary schools and intercollegiate athletics to physician's clinics and professional sports. In addition, UT is proud to have one of only 17 accredited Post-Professional Athletic Training programs in the nation, providing graduate students with the opportunity to advance their clinical knowledge and skills through engagement in research and autonomous clinical practice.  Both the professional and post-professional AT programs seek to provide students with the best available information and tools in order to ensure successful clinical practice and patient outcomes.
