Brandmier has served as assistant coach with Mark Batman since 2023
TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo Women's Soccer Head Coach Mark Batman announced the promotion of assistant coach Cliff Brandmier to associate head coach on Friday.

"Cliff has been an integral part to our program," said Batman. "We discussed this potential role change over a year ago. We discussed areas of growth for him and our program, and what we needed from him to make all that a reality. He has earned this role and everything that comes with it. At the end of the day, a big part of my job is to help our staff be ready for the next job, whether that's a head coaching position or an area in another field. I am looking forward to continuing my professional and personal relationship with Cliff and am very excited about this opportunity for him."

Brandmier has been a part of the staff since January 2023, shortly after Batman was named head coach. He helped the Rockets engineer a five-win improvement in his first season, including a four-game conference winning streak. Toledo then earned results in 11 of 18 matches in 2024 and another 10 results in 2025. Currently, the Rockets are on a four-match winning streak in a 4-1 start to the 2026 season.

Brandmier has recruited and developed young players that were among Batman's first classes, including last year's leading scorer Morgan Spitler (5 G, 10 PTS) and Ella Zoerhoff, who posted the program's first hat trick since 2019 and was named MAC Offensive Player of the Week recently.

Brandmier has also been a part of maintaining the academic success of the program, which has totaled 16 academic all-district and 29 Academic All-MAC selections since 2023. Kaema Amachree was also named Second Team Academic All-Ohio in 2025.

The Michigan native is in his 11th season in the college coaching ranks. Brandmier spent three seasons with Western Michigan (2013-15) and four at Detroit Mercy (2019-22). He has also coached at the high school level as a head coach. He previously served as the U11-U19 Field ECNL-RLÂ technical director and tournament director at Liverpool FC of Michigan International Academy.

Brandmier holds a bachelor's degree in general studies with a concentration in sport management from Southern New Hampshire University. He and his wife, Ashley have a daughter, Peyton.
