Paige Dornheggen Tabbed MAC Goalkeeper of the Week

TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo junior goalkeeper Paige Dornheggen was named the Mid-American Conference's Goalkeeper of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Dornheggen totaled 12 stops in two shutout efforts, as Toledo started MAC play with four points in a 1-0-1 week.

In Thursday's win against Kent State, Dornheggen made a career-high eight saves, with five coming in the second half. She made a key early stop diving to her left and made another off a redirection chance in the 73rd minute. Dornheggen helped the Rockets' defense fend off 10 Kent State corner kicks, with eight coming in the first half.

Dornheggen then made four more saves against Buffalo in a 0-0 draw, with a diving save off a centered chance in the first half.

With Dornheggen's efforts, Toledo picked up its first win over Kent State since 2015 and its first result against Buffalo since 2021.

Dornheggen is tied for second in the MAC with five shutouts. With Dornheggen leading the way in net, Toledo has five shutouts in its first nine matches of a season since 2021.

Dornheggen earned a weekly MAC honor for the first time in her career.

Toledo will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 25, taking on Western Michigan at 7 p.m. at Paul Hotmer Field.
