CLEVELAND, Ohio – Toledo women's track and field senior Laura Nicholson was named the Mid-American Conference Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.

Nicholson broke the school record in the 800m at the Jesse Owens Classic in Columbus, Ohio. The Cork, Ireland native crossed the finish line in 2:04.80, winning the event and besting the previous school record by a second.

Nicholson has tallied the best 800m time in the MAC this season by over three seconds and ranks 64^th among all Division I runners and 40^th in the NCAA East Region.

This is Nicholson's fourth MAC Track Athlete of the Week honor this season and seventh of her career.

The Rockets are back in action on Wednesday, May 7 at the Hillsdale Last Chance meet in Hillsdale, Mich.
