COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Toledo softball team fell to Virginia, 4-1, in the second day of the Gamecock Invitational in Columbia, S.C. on Saturday.
Virginia (2-2) struck first, scoring a run in the second inning and added three more runs in the third inning. Freshman
Samantha Bolding knocked an RBI double to right field in the fourth inning to cut into Virginia's lead, but the Rockets (2-1) were unable to rally further.
Senior
Kylee Graham (1-1) earned the start in the circle, throwing three innings and giving up four runs on five hits. Senior
Sophia Knight allowed only two hits in three innings of relief.
Five Rockets recorded a hit against the Cavaliers.
Eli Enriquez and Bolding have hits in all three games in the young season while Bolding leads the team in RBIs with four.
ROCKET NOTES
- Enriquez and Maris Barbato connected to catch three different Virginia baserunners stealing.
- Barbato, Bolding and Kendra VanderLugt tallied their first doubles of the season as Toledo recorded four doubles in five total hits.
