STATEMENT FROM VICE PRESIDENT & DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS BRYAN B. BLAIR
"Earlier today, Head Football Coach Jason Candle informed me that he has accepted an opportunity to continue his coaching career at another institution. We are grateful for Jason's leadership, his dedication to our student-athletes, and the many achievements he helped deliver during his tenure in Toledo. We thank Jason, Nicole, and their family and we wish them the very best in their next chapter.
"To ensure continuity for our student-athletes and staff, we will name an interim head coach shortly.
"Toledo is one of the most successful programs in the Mid-American Conference and owns the second-longest bowl eligibility streak in the Group of Six. Our program has been shaped by exceptional leaders over many decades, including two Hall of Fame head coaches, and that legacy of excellence continues to drive our expectations today.
"Our national search is already underway to identify a head coach who is committed to supporting our student-athletes, embracing this community, and building on the strong foundation in place. Toledo is one of the premier jobs in the Group of Six, with the momentum and resources to achieve at the highest level. We look forward to welcoming the next great leader of this program."
