Senior Sean Craig leads four Rockets in double figures with 21 points and nine rebounds
DAYTON, Ohio – Senior Sean Craig tallied a game-high 21 points and nine rebounds to lead the Toledo men's basketball team to an 81-71 road victory over Wright State on Tuesday evening in the Nutter Center.
The Rockets (1-2) erased a five-point halftime deficit with a dominant second-half performance, outscoring the Raiders 47-32 after the break. Toledo shot an impressive 61.3% from the field in the second half and finished the night at 56.4% overall, including five-of-10 from three-point range.
Joining Craig in double figures were junior Sonny Wilson (17 pts., 7 reb., 4 asst.) and senior Kyler Vanderjagt (15 pts., 5 reb.). Junior Austin Parks provided a strong inside presence as well with a career-high 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting.
Toledo dominated the paint, scoring 50 points inside and converting 23 fast-break points, while forcing 19 Wright State turnovers that led to 18 points.
Wright State (1-2) was paced by Michael Imariagbe's 17 points and Michael Cooper's 15 points.
The Rockets opened the second half by scoring 10 straight points to seize control after intermission and grab the lead for good. Toledo's defensive pressure and transition game proved decisive, as the Rockets held Wright State to just 10 field goals in the second half. UT took its first double-digit lead with just over 12 minutes remaining and extended its cushion to as many as 16 points.
