Toledo to play 36 holes on Sunday and 18 on Monday
TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo women's golf team will compete in Michigan State's Mary Fossum Invitational for the second straight season when it travels to East Lansing, Mich. this weekend. The 54-hole tournament will be played at the Spartans' par-72, 6,368-yard Forest Akers West course.
The Rockets will play 36 holes on Sunday and 18 more on Monday. Play will begin each day with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
Tournament Field
Toledo will be competing against a 15-team field that includes eight Power Four schools - Florida (SEC), Miami (ACC), Michigan (Big Ten), Michigan State (Big Ten), Minnesota (Big Ten), Mississippi (SEC), Notre Dame (ACC), and Purdue (Big Ten). Also participating are Delaware, FIU, Grand Valley State, Kennesaw State, Northern Illinois, and Oakland.
This Week's Lineup
The Rockets' lineup for the Mary Fossum Invitational will include freshman Brooklyn Millard at No. 1, redshirt freshman Valeria Lizcano at No. 2, senior Yedam Lee at No. 3, freshman Emily Young at No. 4, and senior Kyleigh Dull at No. 5.
Millard paced the Rockets in her collegiate debut at the Cardinal Cup last weekend. The Aurora, Ohio native tied for 27th place at 10-over par 226 and carded the Rockets' two best rounds in the event with a one-over 73 in the second round and a three-over 75 in the opening round.
Lizcano was four strokes behind Millard and tied for 38th place individually at 14-over par 230 (77-77-76).
Up Next
Toledo will host the Rocket Classic at the Catawba Island Club in Port Clinton, Ohio for a fourth-consecutive year. The tournament will be held on Monday, Sept. 30-Tuesday, Oct. 1.
