TOLEDO, Ohio – Coming off three straight runner-up finishes at the Mid-American Conference Championships, the Toledo men's cross country squad begins its quest for a first-ever MAC crown under second-year associate head coach
Tito Medrano on Friday, Aug. 30 at Akron's Tommy Evans Invitational. The Rockets will take off in their first 6K of the season at 6:45 p.m. at the Silver Creek Cross Country Course.
Toledo returns five of its six top runners from last year's runner-up MAC Championship Meet team, including 2023 individual champion junior
Dennis Mutai (23:57.19). Other returners include second-team All-MAC honoree senior
Geoff Howles (14
th at MACs), senior
Sean Smith (16th), sophomore
Peter McMahon (17th), junior
Joshuah Taylor (18th) and junior
Max Matolin.
A pair of newcomers who are expected to be major contributors are a pair of transfers, freshman
Dominic Serem (Oklahoma) and redshirt freshman
Loann Brevilit (Oklahoma State), as well as redshirt freshman
Joad Martinho.
The MAC Championship Meet is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 2 in Muncie, Ind. The postseason will begin with the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Friday, Nov. 15 in Akron, Ohio. The 2024 NCAA Championships, will take place on Saturday, Nov. 23 in Madison, Wis.
