LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Louisville Sports Commission named Toledo senior running back/kick returner Jacquez Stuart to the Paul Hornung Award preseason watch list on Thursday.
 
Stuart was selected to the watch list for the second consecutive season. The award is presented annually to the most versatile player in college football. A total of 48 standouts were selected for Thursday's preseason watch list.
 
Stuart is coming off a 2023 season where he ranked third in the nation with a 29.1 kickoff return average and led the MAC with 582 kick return yards. He also totaled 574 rushing yards (47.8/game), averaging 5.2 per carry and six touchdowns. Stuart's 5.2 yards per carry ranked seventh in the MAC.
 
The Miami, Fla. native produced several key highlights in 2023, including returning the opening kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown against Buffalo, and a 59-yard catch-and-run for the game-winning touchdown at Bowling Green. He also broke an 80-yard touchdown run against Wyoming in the Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl.
 
Stuart finished with a First-Team All-MAC selection in 2023 and was twice named the MAC Special Teams Player of the Week. He was also named to the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll after producing 119 yards on four kickoff returns, along with 79 rushing yards and a touchdown on 15 carries in Week 5 against Northern Illinois.
 
Three finalists will be selected in December and the winner of the 2024 Paul Hornung Award will be honored in March. The award is now in its 15th season.
