TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo Athletics Leadership Fan Council recently held its debut meeting at the Joe Grogan Room on the campus of the University of Toledo.
The Fan Council is made up of 20 dedicated Rocket fans who will engage in on-going discussions with Athletic Department leaders and provide meaningful feedback with the objective of maximizing the fan experience at all University of Toledo athletic events. In the initial meeting, members gave their views on a variety of subjects related to attendance at Toledo athletic events.
Vice President and Director of Athletics Bryan B. Blair said the Fan Council will be an important voice as the athletic department prepares to further enhance the game-day experience at Toledo athletic events.
"Our fans are among the best in the nation, and are critically important members of Team Toledo," said Blair. "The Fan Council provides us an opportunity to hear from some of our most loyal fans, alumni and campus and community stakeholders. Our first meeting was an amazing start to an ongoing dialogue that will let them share their experiences, providing fresh ideas and perspective to our administrative team. Toledo Athletics is experiencing amazing success, and the Fan Council will be critical as we look to take the next steps on our journey towards being the gold standard of college athletics."
Fan Council member Elliott Werth said he is a lifelong Rockets fan who is excited to be a part of an athletics program that he grew up loving.
"I think every die-hard fan would say that it would be their dream to help their favorite team by having a voice with them," said Werth. "I hope that we can help the University and Athletic Department achieve their goals of dominating the Mid-American Conference and achieving success on a national level."
Members of the Toledo Athletics Leadership Fan Council consist of students, season ticket holders, fans, alumni, donors and University faculty and staff. Members serve on the Toledo Athletics Leadership Fan Council for a one-year term with meetings to be held every other month. At the end of each term, members may re-apply for another term.
