KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Toledo softball team lost to Western Michigan, 3-0, in the final game of a three-game series in Kalamazoo on Saturday. Following a split on Friday, WMU took two of three games in the series and nudged ahead of Toledo into a tie for second place with Ohio in the Mid-American Conference standings.
Toledo (22-19, 12-8 MAC) entered the day just percentage points ahead of WMU (25-20, 14-8 MAC) and is now in fourth place in the conference, just a game behind WMU and Ohio. The top six teams will play in the MAC Tournament in Akron on May 8-11.
Western put up runs in the second, third, and sixth innings, with the first two runs coming off starting pitcher junior
Sophia Knight (12-9). Toledo's best chances to score came in the second inning when senior
Lauren Erickson stroked a one-out double, and in the sixth when the Rockets put two on with two out.

Eli Enriquez paced the offense with two hits and a stolen base, her MAC-leading 28
th swipe of the season.

- WMU opened the scoring in the second inning when Rissa Bajusz tripled and then scored on a bunt from Megan Welsh.
- The Broncos made it 2-0 on back-to-back two-out doubles in the third.
- WMU added an insurance run in the sixth.
