Toledo Opens Battle of I-75 with 8-3 Win Over Bowling Green

Rockets tie school record with seven stolen bases in victory

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Toledo softball team opened the Battle of I-75 with an 8-3 victory over Bowling Green at Meserve Field on Friday afternoon. The Rockets stole seven bases against the Falcons to tie the single-game record set vs. Cal. State Northridge on Feb. 15, 2014.

Toledo seized control of the game by erupting for four runs on four hits in the second to take a 5-1 lead. Senior Riley Mohr then cracked a two-run homer in the fourth to give UT an 8-1 cushion.

BGSU rallied for two runs in the fifth, but junior Sophia Knight (7-4) kept the Falcons from scoring any more in the final two frames in her complete-game victory.

Junior Eli Enriquez and Mohr topped Toledo offensively with three hits apiece. Mohr drove in a team-high three runs, while Enriquez scored a team-best three runs. Enriquez was 2-for-2 in stolen base attempts to give her 20 thefts this season, a total that ranks seventh in UT history.

The Rockets (11-12, 2-2 MAC) and Falcons (2-16, 1-3 MAC) will close out their Battle of I-75 series on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED
