TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's tennis team will be on the road this weekend for matches at UIC on Friday, March 22 and Northern Illinois on Sunday, March 24.

The Rockets (7-8, 2-1 MAC) have won seven straight road matches in Mid-American Conference play dating back to April 17, 2022. Friday's match will be the first between the Rockets and Flames since 2019, and the first conference meeting since UIC joined the MAC as a men's tennis affiliate this season.

Last Time on the Court
Toledo's nine-match conference winning streak was snapped by Western Michigan in a 4-3 decision last Sunday in a rematch of the 2023 MAC Championship final. The Rockets fought off two match points, but the Broncos pulled out the final victory in a three-set decision from the No. 2 court. Senior Pawit Sornlaksup had his undefeated 22-match conference record ended in a two-set defeat to Anton Arzhanikin, a record he held since March 2022.

Milestone Markers
  • Sornlaksup moved up the ITA Men's Division I Singles rankings from #88 to #60 heading into his week's competition, a career-high ranking for the Rayong, Thailand native.
  • Sornlaksup's win over BSU was his 70th career singles win and ranks No. 4 in Toledo history. He is two wins behind UT Hall of Famer Jared Miller's 72 career wins from 2006-09 and seven victories behind No. 2 Sven Burus (2008-11).
