Rockets' mentor has been finalist for award in each of last four seasons
TOLEDO, Ohio - University of Toledo head coach Tod Kowalczyk has been named a finalist for the Skip Prosser Man of the Year award for a fourth-consecutive season.
Kowalczyk guided the Rockets to a historical season in the 2023-24 campaign as Toledo joined the University of Cincinnati as the only two Mid-American Conference programs ever to win four consecutive outright league titles. In addition, Kowalczyk is one of five active coaches in the nation who have won four straight outright conference crowns. He also has guided the Rockets to a nation-high 62 conference victories over the last four years.
Off the court, Kowalczyk has served as the chair for the NCAA's Division I Men's Basketball Ethics Coalition and was given the Donate Life Champion Award, which recognizes members of the athletic community who have made a significant impact on organ, eye, and tissue donation.
Named after the late Skip Prosser, who died suddenly in 2007 while serving as the head coach at Wake Forest, the award is presented annually to those who not only achieve success on the basketball court but who also display moral integrity off it as well. Prosser posted a career record of 291-146 in 14 seasons as a head coach at Loyola, Xavier, and Wake Forest.
