Stephanie Sherman to Compete in U.S. Olympic Team Trial Marathon

Toledo alumna will run is Saturday, Feb. 3 for a chance to run for Team USA in the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris
TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo alumna Stephanie Sherman will compete for a chance to represent Team USA in the marathon at this summer's Olympic Games Paris 2024 at the Olympic Trials on Saturday, Feb. 3 in Orlando, Fla. The course runs through downtown Orlando near Lake Eola Park with the men's race beginning at 10:10 a.m., followed by the women's race at 10:20 a.m.
Sherman qualified for the Olympic Team Trials at the 2022 California International Marathon when she was clocked in at 2:36.49.
The top three women at the Trials who have run a 2:29.30 or faster between Nov. 1, 2022, and Feb. 3, 2024, will go to the Olympics. The women's marathon will be held on Sunday, Aug. 11.
Sherman was on the Toledo women's cross country and track & field team from 2017-22. She was named Second-Team All-America after finishing 16th in the 10K at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a time of 33:25.31, which still stands as the school record. She also has a 9:40.49 time in the 3,000m which ranks third all-time, and a 16:15.79 time in the 5,000m which ranks fifth In UT outdoor history.
Sherman won the 2022 WTOL River Run 10K, took seventh in the 2021 Indianapolis Monumental Half Marathon, finished 16th in the 10K at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and 19th in the 2021 USATF Half Marathon Championships.
Sherman earned a bachelor's degree in bioengineering in 2021 and a master's in business administration in 2022 from the University of Toledo. She is currently a research and development engineer for medical devices at Cook Medical.
