TOLEDO, Ohio – Seniors
Maxen Hook,
Jerjuan Newton and
Jacquez Stuart led a group of nine Rockets who earned 2024 All-MAC honors, the Mid-American Conference announced on Thursday.
Hook, a safety from New Palestine, Ind., earned first-team All-MAC honors for the third consecutive season. He also earned third-team All-MAC honors as a redshirt freshman in 2021, making him just the third Rocket ever to make an All-MAC team in four seasons. The others were safety Barry Church (2006-09) and offensive lineman Nick Kaczur (2001-04), both of whom had lengthy careers in the NFL.
Newton, a wide receiver from St. Peterburg, Fla., earned first-team All-MAC for a second consecutive season. He also earned second-team honors in 2022. Running back
Jacquez Stuart earned first-team honors as a kickoff returner for a second consecutive season. The three seniors were joined on the All-MAC first-team by junior wide receiver
Junior Vandeross III.

First-Team All-MAC
Maxen Hook, Sr., Safety
Now a four-time All-MAC honoree,
Maxen Hook leads the team and is fourth in the MAC with 107 tackles. He had five games in double digits in tackles, including a career-high 16 tackles plus an interception vs. Ohio on Nov. 20. Hook has accepted an invitation to play in the Senior Bowl on Feb. 1.

Jerjuan Newton, Sr., Wide Receiver
A three-time All-MAC performer, Newton has 64 receptions for 949 yards and 11 touchdowns, all career highs. He leads the team and is third in MAC in receiving yards, as well as second on team and tied for fourth in MAC in receptions. His 11 TD receptions leads the MAC and is tied for fifth in nation. He is Toledo's all-time leader in career TD receptions (32), and ranks fifth in career receiving yards (2,843) and sixth in career receptions (198). Newton was invited to play in the Hula Bowl on Jan. 11.
Jacquez Stuart, Sr., Kickoff Returner
Jacquez Stuart made the All-MAC first-team as a kickoff returner for a second straight season. He is averaging 32.5 yards on 12 returns this season, which leads the MAC and would be second in the country if he had enough attempts to qualify. He had a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown vs. UMass, which was the third time he has taken a kickoff the distance in his career.
Junior Vandeross III, Jr., Wide Receiver
Junior Vandeross III leads the Rockets and is third in the MAC with 73 receptions. He is second on the team with 763 receiving yards and has four TD receptions. His best game came vs. Bowling Green when he caught a career-high 11 passes for 106 yards.
Second-Team All-MAC
Darius Alexander, Sr., Defensive Tackle
Darius Alexander made second-team All-MAC after landing on the third team in 2023. He has been a force in the middle for the Rockets, totaling 34 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and four pass breakups. Alexander has accepted an invitation to play in the Senior Bowl on Feb. 1.
Bryson Hammer, Fr. (R), Punt Returner
Bryson Hammer averages 14.6 yards per punt return, a figure that leads the MAC and is fourth in the nation. He had punt returns of 43, 41, 32, 22 and 18 among his 17 returns this season.
Avery Smith, Jr., Cornerback
Avery Smith is second in the MAC and tied for eighth in the country with 15 passes defended (13 breakups, 2 interceptions).
Third-Team All-MAC
Daniel Bolden, Sr., Linebacker
Daniel Bolden is second on the team and 10
th in the MAC with 91 tackles. He also has 7.0 tackles for loss.
Ethan Spoth, Soph., Offensive Line
Ethan Spoth anchored the Rockets' offensive line, starting 10 games and right guard and two at center. Toledo's offense is second in the MAC in passing efficiency and third in sacks allowed.
