TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's volleyball team begins play in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) on Thursday, Dec. 5. With the bid to the NIVC, the Rockets will see postseason volleyball for the third time in four years. In 2021, Toledo earned its first postseason win over Indiana State and followed up with a win over Clemson in the 2022 NIVC.
Toledo owns an overall record of 17-14 after falling 3-0 to Ball State in the quarterfinals of the Mid-American Conference Tournament on Nov. 22. DePaul enters the match with an overall mark of 19-13 and reached the BIG EAST Semifinals before falling to Creighton, 3-0.
ROCKET NOTES
- Toledo is fourth in the MAC and 70th nationally in team service aces (183). Additionally, the team ranks fifth in the conference in aces per set (1.63).
- The Rockets are also fourth in the league in blocks per set (2.17) and digs per set (14.88).
- Taylor Alt is second in the MAC in kills per set (3.74), points (482.0) and points per set (4.34). Alt also ranks third in the conference and 75th in the country in total kills (415).
- Freshman libero Grace Freiberger is first in the league and 19th nationally in digs per set (5.03). Freiberger's 518 total digs are 43rd in the nation and third in the conference.
- Macy Hatkevich has averaged 8.44 assists per set, good for fifth in the league.
SCOUTING THE BLUE DEMONS
- DePaul averages 13.59 kills per set, which ranks 45th in the country. Graduate outside hitter Jill Pressly leads the offense with 4.24 kills per set.
- Graduate libero Rachel Krasowski paces the defense with 4.62 digs per set.
- The Blue Demons have totaled 1,582 assists on the season, the fifth-most in the country. Senior Ashley Cudiamat averages 5.50 assists per set while freshman Amanda Saeger adds 5.37 assists per set.
SERIES STUFF
- DePaul leads the all-time series, 2-1. The last meeting between the Rockets and Blue Demons came on Sept. 4, 2015 in Chicago where DePaul won, 3-0.
UP NEXT
The winner of Thursday's match will face the winner of Lindenwood-Omaha on Friday, Dec. 6 in Chicago.
