Long Snapper James Roe Named Freshman All-American

TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo football long snapper James Roe has been selected among the top freshmen in the country as part of the PFF All-Freshman Team released by Pro Football Focus this week.

Roe played in every game in the 2024 regular season, taking over the starting long snapping role for both the kicking and the punting units. He helped the Rockets to a perfect 37-for-37 in extra point attempts and a top-five mark in the MAC in punting average (41.6) without a punt being blocked.

Toledo earned three MAC Special Teams Player of the Week awards this season, with placekicker Dylan Cunanan taking three and punter Emilio Duran earning two awards.

Roe was named to the honor among 27 FBS freshmen. He is one of just three players from Group of Five programs to be picked to the All-Freshman Team. Roe was also named Freshman All-American by College Football Network last week.

Toledo will face Pitt in the 2024 GameAbove Bowl on Thursday, Dec. 26 at 2:00 p.m. on ESPN.
