TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's basketball team will play two games in the Cherokee Invitational from the Harrah's Cherokee Casino & Resort in Cherokee, N.C. this week. The Rockets will begin the week against Troy on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 7:00 p.m., before closing the tournament against either Arkansas or Liberty on Thursday, Dec. 19 (time TBD).

Both matchups will be broadcast on Stadium Network and fans can also tune in via radio on WCWA 1230 AM and The Varsity Network App. The second day's matchups will be the losing teams from day one at 7:00 followed by the winning teams from day one for the nightcap.

The Rockets (5-2, 0-0 MAC) will play their first games since Dec. 6Â when they knocked off Mercyhurst 70-66 at Savage Arena, finishing the game on an 8-0 run to push past the Lakers. Freshman
Faith Fedd-Robinson finished with a season-high 15 points and five rebounds to lead the Rockets, adding two assists, two steals and one block. Toledo is 0-1 in neutral-site games this season, losing to then No. 10 Maryland at the Navy Thanksgiving Classic on Dec. 1.

The Trojans (5-5, 0-0 Sun Belt) knocked off Memphis 85-67 at home on Saturday and enter the week coming off back-to-back victories and 1-0 in neutral site matchups. Troy is led by junior Zay Dyer, who is averaging 12.8 points and 9.1 rebounds, and has recorded double-doubles in each of her last four games. Troy is 1-0 all-time vs. Toledo, winning 71-64 on Dec. 19, 2019 at the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic.

Both Arkansas (6-6, 0-0 SEC) and Liberty (6-3, 0-0 C-USA) would be first-time opponents for Toledo. Arkansas fell 75-72 at home to Texas Tech on Sunday, while Liberty enters on a three-game winning streak, having defeated Randolph College (Va.) 109-26 on Wednesday.

The Cherokee Invitational also features two full days of high school girls and college women's basketball, with over 40 high school programs competing along with the four-team college tournament. The event is in its third season.

Rockets Against the Sun Belt
- Toledo enters its matchup against Troy having won three-straight games against opponents from the Sun Belt Conference in the past two seasons. All three matchups were a part of the MAC-SBC Challenge.
- Toledo knocked off James Madison 60-49 and ULM 72-57 last season and defeated Marshall 71-68 to open the current campaign.
- The Rockets' contests at JMU and against Marshall each featured dramatic comebacks, with Toledo coming back from 21 points down against JMU and from 16 behind against the Thundering Herd.
- UT will play one more game against the Sun Belt this season, on Feb. 8 on the road against an opponent to be announced in January. This will mark the second portion of the MAC-SBC Challenge.
Down But Never Out
- Toledo withstood and responded to a 13-2 run to capture its latest victory against Mercyhurst. The Rockets finished on an 8-0 run and held the Lakers scoreless over the final 4:05 in the fourth-quarter rally.
- Toledo has won while trailing in the fourth quarter three times this season – against Marshall (Nov. 4), Northern Kentucky (Nov. 17) and Mercyhurst (Dec. 6).
- The Rockets have already come back to win twice from down double digits, erasing a 16-point deficit against Marshall and 14-point deficit against NKU.
Faith Fedd-Robinson Shines Against Mercyhurst
- The latest Rocket to mark a breakout game this season, Faith Fedd-Robinson led Toledo with 15 points on 7-for-11 from the field and added five rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block.
- She scored 13 of her 15 points in the second half and also hit her first career three-point basket.
- The Newark, N.J. native scored six of Toledo's eight points during The Rockets' game-winning spurt, including the winning putback layup with 1:41 left to play.
- Fedd-Robinson became the fifth Rocket to score at least 15 points in a game this season, joining Kendall Carruthers, Khera Goss, Sammi Mikonowicz and Hannah Noveroske.
Of Note
- Mikonowicz is fifth in the MAC in scoring (14.3) and 10th in the MAC in rebounding (6.0). She has averaged 7.7 rebounds in her last three games.
- Hannah Noveroske is third in the league with a 55.8 field goal percentage while Sammi Mikonowicz sixth at 53.0. Noveroske's percentage ranks 43rd in the country.
- Should Toledo face Arkansas on Thursday, UT will mark its third matchup against an opponent from the "Power Five" basketball conferences. The Rockets faced Iowa and Maryland from the Big Ten earlier this season.
- All five of Toledo's wins have been by single digits.
- The Rockets enter the tournament coming off a season-high 46 points in the paint against Mercyhurst.
